Highlight Recipe: Veg Manchurian


TWCT is glad to publish today's highlight recipe no. 1 Veg Manchurian, by its talented member Mrs. Aditi Nath from Hyderabad India. Veg Mancurian is an oriental delight where crisp vegetable balls are dipped in a flavorful sauce. This is a popular home made comfort food.

Ingredients:


  • Chopped carrot 
  • Chopped cabbage 
  • Chopped capsicum 
  • Chopped spring onion 
  • Chopped bean
  • Chopped onion 
  • Black pepper powder 
  • Chopped garlic 
  • Chopped ginger
  • Chopped green chili 
  • Maida (refined Wheat flour)
  • Cornflour

Method:
  • 1st Take the finely chopped veggies in a bowl,then add the dry ingredients, mix and gather the whole mixture together. Then knead it like a dough. 
  • Then take a small portion of the mixture in your hands. Press and roll it in your palm and make a round ball. Heat oil for deep frying in a wok then gently place the balls in the hot oil. Fry the balls until they are crisp and golden brown. 
  • Making veg manchurian gravy/ sauce:In a bowl take soy sauce, tomato ketchup, red chili sauce, mix the sauce very well and keep aside. In another bowl take cornflour and water mix well and keep aside. 
  • Heat oil in a wok add spring onion, chopped ginger, garlic, green chilies when everything turns golden brown add onion, carrot and capsicum. When it is fried add the sauce mixture prepared in the first step and let it fry for a while. Add corn flour and maida mix. 
  • When the veg manchurian sauce's consistency thickens add black pepper powder. Add a pinch of sugar and stir very well. 
  • Then add the manchurian balls in the gravy. Gently stir and coat the veg manchurian balls in the gravy.
  • You can enjoy this with fried/steamed rice or noodles.
