Highlight Recipe: Oriental chicken cabbage rolls (San Choy Bau)
TWCT is glad to publish an innovative and healthy recipe, Steamed San Choy Bau Chicken dumplings as our highlight recipe number 2. The oriental flavors of China are brought to you by Mrs. Luni Sabharwal from Gurugram, India. She says, " I made the San Choy Bau chicken mixture and wrapped it in steamed cabbage. Normally I wrap in cold lettuce and is amazing. This turned out well too."
Recipe Follows.
Ingredients (for the filling)
- Minced Chicken
- Black fungus
- Water chestnuts
- Shallots
- Green onion
- Garlic
- Oyster Sauce
- Soy Sauce
- Rice wine
- Do not add salt
For the Wrap
- Steamed the whole cabbage
Method
- Add the chicken mince and continue tossing in the wok until the chicken is cooked through. Add the shallots, Garlic, green onion,Black fungus, water chestnuts, oyster sauce, soy sauce, rice wine and cook for a further 2 minutes until the sauces are combined. Stir fry and remove from heat.
- peel off each steamed cabbage leaf and wrap with the chicken filling.
- Steam the dumplings again for about 10 mins.
- Enjoy hot with mild sriracha sauce and plum sauce.
