Highlight Recipe: Dhekiya saag aloo Sabzi (Fiddle head fern and baby potatoes stir fry)
TWCT is glad to publish its highlight recipe no. 1 for today, Dhekiya saag aloo Sabzi (Fiddlehead fern and baby potatoes stir fry) by Mrs. Ruma Sarma from Assam, India. She has shared this regional delight which is a simple stir fry and relished by the Assamese community. This is a very simple recipe which is also a rich source of vitamins.
Recipe follows.
- Finely chop Fiddle headed fern (dhekia saak) and small potatoes in halves.
- Heat little mustard oil in a pan and saute a tsp of caraway seeds.
- Then add the cut potatoes and fry until brown. Let the potatoes cook completely.
- Later add the dhekia (fiddlehead fern) and season with turmeric powder and salt.
- Fry until the greens get cooked.
- Serve hot with steamed rice
